A declaration of commitment was signed by representatives of Accenture, De Munt/La Monnaie, Nestlé Belgilux, Sweco Belgium, Verhofsté and educational institutions Collège d'Europe, KU Leuven, Universiteit Antwerpen, Université de Liège, Universiteit Gent Vrije Universiteit Brussel and ICHEC.
Federal Minister of Mobility Georges Gilkinet (Ecolo) was present at the signing.
Héloïse Nolet, Sustainable Project Manager, represented ICHEC.
Frequent flyers represent 1% of the world's population, but are responsible for half of the emissions from aviation. "The newly formed coalition, an initiative ofBond Beter Leefmilieu, The Shift, Climate Neutral Group and Canopea, brings together the forerunners of sustainable business travel and encourages them to opt for an employee and climate-friendly travel policy. The signatories commit themselves to avoiding unnecessary travel and air travel," says Bond Beter Leefmilieu.
Minister Gilkinet has pledged his support for the initiative, including a policy to support the development of night trains from Brussels.
