Non-European Union Students
Students from outside the European Union are required to pay the following two amounts:
- The standard tuition fee of €1,194, payable by all students (see details above);
- An additional fee of €4,175 (Programme Decree of 11 December 2024).
The following categories are exempt from paying the additional fee:
- Nationals of a country included on the United Nations Least Developed Countries (LDC) list;
- Holders of a CESS (Belgian secondary school diploma) awarded by an institution organised or subsidised by the French Community of Belgium, after completing at least two years of secondary education within that system;
- Students enrolled in an AESS programme or an equivalent Master's degree in Teaching;
- Recipients of a Wallonia-Brussels International scholarship;
- Students recognised as equivalent students under Article 3, §1 of the Decree of 11 April 2014.
Transitional Measures
Transitional provisions apply to certain students who are currently enrolled. These students will not be required to pay the additional fee but may instead remain subject to the former Specific Registration Fee (DIS) under certain conditions.
First-cycle (Bachelor's) students enrolled in 2024–2025 who paid an increased or specific registration fee (DIS):
→ The previous DIS amount (€1,487) will continue to apply until the 2026–2027 academic year, provided the student remains enrolled in the same programme without interruption.
Please note
- A reduced study load does not extend the transitional period.
- The new exemption rules also apply to students covered by the transitional arrangements.
Special Case: BAMA Students and the DIS
Non-EU BAMA students will continue to pay the former Specific Registration Fee (DIS) unless they qualify for an exemption, in accordance with the transitional measures and Article 100, §3, paragraph 3 of the Paysage Decree.
