The project aims to explore the paradoxes associated with sustainability ambitions in managerial practices, in the context of healthcare.

The MaRePI project (Responsible Management Nursing Paradoxes) is embedded in two Higher Education Institutions: one in Management (ICHEC Brussels Management School) and the other in Nursing Sciences (Hénallux).

The research question focuses on the identification of nursing management practices that make it possible to cope with experienced paradoxes.

To address this question, the project empirically explores the dynamics at work in paradoxical situations, using a qualitative approach.

Context

The issue addressed concerns nursing management practices confronted with the challenges of sustainable development, and in particular with the paradoxes associated with it.

The nursing care sector, considered here as a critical case, has long been recognized for the paradoxes that run through it.

The approach is contextualized and takes into account the gendered dimension of these practices.

Previous studies highlight the importance of this dimension, both with regard to the understanding of management embedded in sustainability and decisions related to care.

Needs addressed

The production of knowledge making it possible to better understand the characteristics of responsible managerial practices.

The consideration of sustainable development challenges and the paradoxes experienced in nursing management.

The identification of knowledge and skills essential to responsible management, of a non-technical nature in particular.

Expected results

To contribute to management education both in management schools and in the training of nurses.

To contribute, among other things, to the development of knowledge and skills essential to responsible management.
