Objectifs et contribution de l'Unité d'Enseignement au programme

Microeconomics is an introductory course that provides students with the foundations of economic analysis. The course covers core topics including supply and demand, consumer and firm behavior, market structures such as competition and monopoly, and welfare economics. Throughout the semester, students will also explore applications of microeconomic theory to real-world policy issues.

Prérequis et corequis

No formal prerequisites are required. However, prior completion of a general course in economics is beneficial.

- Supply and demand analysis

- Consumer theory and decision making under uncertainty

- Firm behavior and production decisions

- Market structures: perfect competition, monopoly, and oligopoly

- Welfare economics and policy applications

Méthodes pédagogiques

The course will be delivered through weekly lectures (three hours per week). These sessions provide students with the opportunity not only to learn the core material but also to ask questions and actively interact with the tutor.

Mode d'évaluation

Student performance will be evaluated through a single final written exam at the end of the quarter.

The main learning materials for the course are the lecture slides, which are made available on Moodle. These slides are designed to be self-sufficient for exam preparation. Additional references and readings may be suggested during the semester for students who wish to deepen their understanding of specific topics.
