Objectifs et contribution de l'Unité d'Enseignement au programme

The course aims at explaining the HRM choices made by employers in terms of HR policies and management tools.
The main objective is to give participants a thorough knowledge of the HR function, tools, and challenges in a volatile economic context. The tools are needed in order to be able to describe in a rigorous manner the characteristics of HR policies in a given company or organisation, then to analyse them with a critical mind. It is important to understand that there is not one way of handling HR and that organisational constraints must be taken into account to give orientations in this matter.
Second, the student should develop a capacity to analyse HR specific problems and working situations. Current HR developments should be treated in a personal, effective way.
At the end of the course, participants are expected to:
• Master the HRM terminology and be able to explain HR concepts – choose the correct theoretical framework in which they will analyse a given situation
• Describe an HR policy or tool, knowing that the same term does not necessarily refer to the same reality in different organisations – apply these to an organisation in which the student has previously worked/been an intern
• Situate the HR function in the global functioning of an organisation and differentiate HR policies according to the organisations analysed – suggest improvements when needed
• Be able to describe the evolution of HR functions in different historical periods, identify the various points of view according to specific contexts.
