Which trainee? and for when ?

ICHEC offers 5 different internships at different stages of students ’curriculum.
Here is an overview of the different internship periods together with a description of the internship and of the academic papers expected at the end of the professional immersion within your company.


Block 2 (second year of the bachelor’s degree)

Business engineering

16 days of internship in February (from Monday to Thursday)

The student accomplishes different tasks related to the day-to-day running of a department, and demonstrates block 2 abilities. The internship has to be related to one of the 4 engineering axes, namely quantitative methods, IT, sciences and finance. The student is not paid. The company receives a copy of the internship report at the end of the academic year.

Business management

20 days in February (from Monday to Friday)

The student accomplishes different tasks related to the day-to-day running of a department, and demonstrates block 2 abilities. The student is not paid. The company receives a copy of the internship report at the end of the academic year.

Master 2

Business engineering

Minimum 90 days

Project management is the method used to assess both the Business Engineering Master’s internship and thesis. The student is to solve a case study related to the organisation, this case study is related to one of the 4 engineering axes, namely quantitative methods, IT, sciences and finance. The student demonstrates a clear sense of responsibility by managing his project autonomously.

Business management

Min.60 days divided in 2 distinct internship periods, these can be accomplished within the same company or in 2 different ones.

  • During the first period, the Master’s internship is of minimum 20 days. Students work 2 days/week between September 15 and December 15. This 20-day internship may also be done anticipatively between July 1 and September 15.
  • During the second period, the Master’s internship is of minimum 40 days as from February. It may be continued in April and May. Students back from an Erasmus may start the internship as from January.

Students improve their knowledge of the professional world by developing their skills in a specific management field. They participate to a real project and contribute to the day-to-day management of a department while using their work experience to sharpen their analytical skills needed for the thesis.

Complementary degree in business management

Ranging from min. 20 days to max. 3 months

University graduates from other disciplines confront themselves to the actual running of a company or organisation in order to gain new management skills. Depending on the specific requirements of the student’s programme or the company’s expectations, this internship is done full-time or part-time from October to the end of December and/or from February to May included. At the end of it, the student submits an internship report to the company.
